Abu Hamzah ibnu Musafir* has been studying the Islamic sciences since the mid-1990s and, for this purpose, spent several years in the Arab world. He first traveled to Cairo and then to Damascus, where he remained for several years in each city and studied at various faculties. During his engagement with Islam up to the present, he combined university studies with the study of classical Islamic texts and disciplines within the framework of lessons taught by contemporary shuyukh. As part of his studies, he memorized the Qur'an as well as other Arabic source texts and Arabic poems.

His main areas of study include the foundational beliefs of Islam, the analysis and comparison of various religious movements, theoretical and applied Hadith studies, the principles of transmission, the foundations of Tafsir, as well as comparative religious studies.

Approximate outline of the stages of study:

First stage: Acquisition of the foundational principles of the Islamic sciences within the framework of university study, with a particular focus on Arabic linguistic sciences as well as the memorization of the Qur'an and other texts.

Second stage: Focus on Adab, Hadith studies and Islamic creed ('aqida).

Third stage: Focus on the works of the early scholars (Salaf) in the field of creed and other disciplines, as well as on transmitted Tafsir (at-tafsir al-ma'thur) and the principles of Qur'anic exegesis (usul al-tafsir).

* (The name Abu Hamzah ibnu Musafir is not a mere pseudonym but the classical Arabic name form consisting of kunya (father's name) and nasab (lineage name), and here refers to actual affiliation or lineage).
