Important Notice

This is the official and only website of Abu Hamzah ibnu Musafir, where all publications on Islamic subjects are made available. Anything not found here is either not by him, outdated, or currently being revised and therefore offline. Only what is published here is current, reflects the author’s view, and may be shared.

• Terms Explained in Place: In the writings, technical terms from the glossary are subtly underlined where they first appear on a page. A click (or, on a computer, hovering over the term) shows the explanation right there, without leaving the page.
• Improved Search: The search has been thoroughly revised and tested. Matches are highlighted and scrolled to directly; a bar at the bottom of the page leads to the next match or the next result. Different spellings (e.g. Tawhid/Tauhid) and typos are taken into account. The home page now has a search field.
• Further Improvements: The chapter pages of the books and writings now have a compact navigation at the top, and Arabic terms are transliterated consistently (e.g. Tawhid).
• “The Doctrine of Monotheism”: New Footnote and Minor Corrections: In the chapter “The Islamic Sources: Qur’an, Sunnah, and Consensus”, al-Bukhari reports on his travels to the scholars. Until now, the text said that he had met the people “of the Arabian Peninsula” twice; the Arabic text, however, refers to al-Jazirah. The passage now reads “… and al-Jazirah (Upper Mesopotamia) twice …” and has a new footnote: “The Arabic text here has al-Jazirah. This does not refer to the Arabian Peninsula (Jaziratu l-'Arab), but to the region between the upper Euphrates and the Tigris, i.e. Upper Mesopotamia, with cities such as Mosul, Harran and ar-Raqqah. Under this name, the early geographers and scholars regarded it as a region of its own. This is also supported by the fact that al-Bukhari mentions the Hijaz separately in the same sentence – wa-llahu a'lam.” In addition, a few other minor corrections have been made in the book. All changes appear in the PDF and in the full text; the new footnote also appears in the translations.
• Consistent File Names: All PDFs on the website now have short, consistent file names that will remain the same from now on. A new edition replaces the file under the same name, so links and bookmarks stay valid; older links are redirected automatically to the current file. The date of the last minor revision is therefore no longer part of the file name, but is noted at the beginning of the document itself (on the title page or in the imprint) and, as before, in the overview.
• Qur’anic Verses in the PDF Editions: Minor character errors in the verses written in the 'Uthmani rasm have been corrected in the PDF editions.
• Switching Languages: The language selection (ع/A in the menu bar) has been redesigned and now looks the same on all devices. For books available in several languages, switching the language opens the same chapter in the other language. This way, the translation of any chapter is just one click away.
• Bosnian Translation: The book “The Doctrine of Monotheism” has now also been published in Bosnian, as a PDF and as a full text to read online. A separate Bosnian section of the website has been created for it.

• Two Arabic Writings Updated: The two Arabic writings – the story of how Salman al-Farisi accepted Islam, and the explanation of the preface to the Tafsir of Ibnu Abi Hatim ar-Razi – have been published in a new PDF edition, with corrections to the vowel marks and an improved layout. Details are listed in the Arabic update log.
• Search for Authors: In the English and German author indexes and in the source indexes of the Arabic books, each author now has a magnifying glass. Clicking it shows every passage in which the author is mentioned in the texts of the respective language.
• The tables of contents of the Arabic full texts are now presented graphically, so that the structure of each book can be seen at a glance.
• The layout and formatting of the Arabic texts have been greatly improved. The Arabic pages now use the Arabic numerals common today throughout (١، ٢، ٣).

• The presentation of the website has been further improved in general and especially for mobile devices. Navigation, publication cards, tables of contents, headings, transcription tables, and Arabic content are now clearer and easier to read.
• Author Indexes: Chronological author indexes have been created for English and German. They list all authors whose works are cited in the publications on the website and assign the works used to their respective authors. In the Arabic books, this role is served by the source index at the end of each book, arranged by the authors’ year of death.
• Glossaries: New English and German glossaries of Islamic terms have been added. The terms are arranged alphabetically, taken from the publications on the website, and linked to the search function.
• New Search Function: The website now offers an extensive search in all languages. It searches full texts, summaries, and the titles of audio contributions and lessons. It recognises different spellings and transliterations, allows searches for multiple terms or exact phrases, suggests terms, and takes the reader directly to the highlighted passage when a result is opened.
• Book Summaries: Detailed summaries of the books have been created in English and German. They provide an organised overview of the main contents and link directly to the respective books.
• Full-Text Editions: The full-text editions of the books and writings have been newly created and are now available in English, German, and Arabic for complete online reading. They are organised by chapter and include detailed tables of contents, navigation between chapters, directly linked footnotes, and carefully formatted Arabic quotations. All books and writings can now also be read in dark mode through the full-text editions.
